Yes..........this Respect for one's art is crucial to maintain. Even my old old old pieces that are stored in the garage are respected and when I do take one apart to reuse the items within it, I silently ask for permission and treat the piece with respect. And as weird or nutty as this sounds, I will often talk to the present pieces and tell them how much I love them. I don't admit that to anyone so here I am confessing this to y'all. I will often touch a piece as I'm walking by it with affection. That tactile feeling stays with me for a while. As a young kid I always just assumed that most inanimate objects had awareness.
I think you are right. I don’t talk to the work normally but I do very often admire and give attention to the works that are in view. Not because I made them but just because they ARE. Like a flower or a rock or a leaf. To admire the things around you is a form of gratitude I think.
