There seemed to be several collage artists from other countries (whether they currently live there or not, I know not). I am curious as to how the participants, like Silvio, were selected?

As I recall, Les and I each put out a call to our networks to see who would be interested to join us on the expedition. Les collected the acknowledgements of interest from possible participants. Then Les had some basic criteria related to participants being practicing collage artists I believe. Then there was a culling based on who was ready to deposit the residency cost. Some dropped out because they were not ready or able to make the commitment for a variety of reasons including other conflicting commitments at the time of the residency.

So we ended up with one person from London, one from Scotland, one from Ireland, one from Canada, one from Australia and the rest from the states. So 15 participants plus Les and I. I am pretty sure if we had had another 15 people who were strongly interested and committed we probably would have set up an additional week. But, there are more to come in the not to distant future!

While it went amazingly well due to Les's excellent organizational skills at setting everything up, setting up something like that is expensive and time consuming so we'll have to study that part based on this first one and then make the needed adjustments and understand how many people are needed to make it worth the effort expended.

It was fun to share a table with Silvio on the first day but I was glad to get our own on the second day and spread our wings. So glad to have met him and watched him work. I learned so much from him!

Collage offers infinite possibilities! I have taken in a lot from all that you have shared about the London residency, the participants etc. I am going to use this as inspiration to do a Collage series with the Creativity in Recovery group I facilitate. Thank you so much!
