I often have wondered that myself. Why does I do that? it seems to be a basic mandate of creation: to survive as long as possible, to continue. Some say for self discovery. Self expression. There is a saying that goes something like ‘ I was a hidden treasure, I wished to be known (to myself) so I created the manifestation (that I might know myself)’ and ‘I am that I am’ or in the upanishads: the Self, the atman. Well, it appears we all feel we need to leave some kind of legacy to carry on. I wonder if in our world we are doing our children a favor, or are we missing the boat. I think in the whole scheme of things our biggest lesson is to LOVE, ourselves, others, and everything. Many believe Love is God and maybe procreation is a way of keeping the source fed and growing (according to our perception of life). Why does it have to be such a mystery, or maybe riddle?
