Excellent essay, Cecil! Thank you. I love striking up friendly conversation when I'm out and about, especially at the grocery store where I just got back from and had several good conversations with 'strangers'. I know how I feel when individuals are friendly with me ans share their thoughts and feelings. I have favorite cashiers whom we hug when our transactions are done, and I end up feeling quite good as I head to my car. It puts me in a good mood. As for politics....I most discuss that with like-minded people or with those we can agree to disagree. I've lost a few friendships over them getting angry at my opinions when they asked me. Mainly I don't like to talk about who I'm voting for or the ideas I believe in even when I have the facts to back it up. I'm not out to change anyone's mind and yet mine is open enough to change if the discussion proves me wrong. You mentioned some basic good things what it means to be an American and those are what really matters.
Just getting around to reading. Busy day including joining the 24 hr postcard writing marathon.
I want to add my thank you, also. THANK YOU!
It’s all true Cecil and all common sense. A lovely piece of writing. Thank you.
