Cecil. Although I am not a professional artist, or even an amateur one, I love being around “artsy” people. It’s in my DNA, probably because my mother was an artist.
What you have going for you, and it may have taken YEARS to develop, is you have the ability to be an artist to the core, but also the ability to manage, organize and market yourself.
Some of the BEST artists I have encountered don’t have that gift, and I applaud you.
I have met a number of artists who are SO incredibly talented in what they do (one being a welder who created such beautiful “obras”,) but could not get “the business” side of himself together .
So, I hope your posts help those who need your guidance.
Thank you Lynn, this is the only reason I bother to post these things, all of the things I say is to my own 25-45 year old self. Like my own kids’ ages. These are the decidedly hard years where it is toughest to hold the line and keep the balance.
Yeah, if only. Right now I'm sort of struggling with a title for the last piece I just finished. I have no one to bounce the potential titles to so I'll have to sleep on it and make a decision eventually. I'm also putting some hope (not all of it) on this one collector of my work who wants me to call him next week regarding coming over to see the work and give me feedback. I never hold my breath but I am hopeful.
I'd love to but not sure how to do that technical-wise. I can send photos via text to a phone # but that's about it. Not very tech savy. This being an actual site, there's no way I'd know how to do that. Sorry....I'm of the physical vintage world and really dumb when it comes to cyber tech stuff.
Great advice for artists.

Why don’t you show us some pieces?

If you are Reading on your phone you can add pics to your comments.
Nope. I'm reading from my desktop, dinosauar that I am.
I'll give you a title: Sehnsucht
I feel like all art has or evokes it.
Ooh, I just looked up that word. I love it! Perhaps I'll use it for another piece where it fits better. Thanks!!!
