That statement takes me to a lot of places. It strips away a lot of reservations and is so in the moment, I think of it as recognizing when the perfect time arrives (like the perfect light) it can be fleeting. It’s knowing yourself enough to rely on yourself, and that’s a nice feeling.
"Not because I have something profound to say, but because saying—through color, form, rhythm, word—is how I stay connected to something deeper than thinking." Amen, Cecil. How grandly you have captured it. Thank you.
Yes, very well stated. The need or compulsion to create is a strong one indeed. To involve one's mind, heart, hands........heck just about all bodyparts.........in making one's art is a crucial state of being. That 'itching' to go work in the studio even when there's nothing started or prepared is a compelling one. Not sure what I'd do if I couldn't create my art. I don't watch TV. I do read books but I'd rather be physically producing an idea I've had in the 3 dimensional which can say what words that can't, do justice to that idea. And who'll listen anyway? It's for me first, then if others experience it, fine. To witness an idea come to fruition is so very satisfying.
I was here. I showed up. I saw this. I felt this. And I responded and here is what it looks like.”

YES!!
Fine, fine image!
Thanks Peter!
Thanks for articulating how I feel about art making! I'll be copying some of this into my journal as a reminder.

Thanks Melinda! Hope you guys are doing well!
Yes the work itself is a connection to something deep, with no name and yes sometimes it feels like I am compelled to work through the puzzle.
