My life as an artist gelled when I realized I needed to do something with all the old maps and interesting old wrapping paper and bits and pieces I had been collecting. Started by reusing thrifted picture frames I decoupaged with the maps, then thrifted plaques and boxes were decorated with book pages and images, then came collage… the rooms at estate sales where the random office supplies and ephemera are piled is my favorite! 🤩
Love the paper quote as much as I love paper. I’ve bought old books simply because I love the paper inside of them and it seems weird but I like being surrounded by books and papers.
Your London week sounds amazing. I’m envious in the best way. Have fun with the pop up show! If I wasn’t on the other side of the world I would try to make it but there’s not enough time.
I too love paper in so many ways.......love the feel of the pages of a book, the smell too so no e-books for me. I still do snailmail and love writing out checks, licking stamps, and the act of putting a bill in an envelope. Love old love letters I find thrifting, paper with paint/sparkles on it, used to love newspapers but unfortunately I don't get them any longer. The list goes on.......wrapping paper, tissue paper, the paper to wrap one's smoke in, etc......................
Love the “paper” quote. Please do let us “Substakies” know the day, date and time of your exhibition. Since we are in London this weekend, we would love to pop in and see all the collages and meet you and all of the other artists.
Keep on!!
I've been enjoying all the posts from London. What a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing, i'm living vicariously.

Great photos! What’s not to like about paper, especially old paper? It’s endlessly fascinating.
