The Exhibition
I was very frustrated that, due to horrid internet service in the gallery space I was unable to to do or process a live feed during the opening. So all I have are a few support photos. Sorry!
Maybe participants can send me more images soon that I can post.
In all, the 17 of us made a total of about 275 collages in 5 days. Amazing! I hand counted 257 in the exhibition. About 100 on the walls and about 150 on the tables.
We had an opening of Friday night and then the exhibition all day Saturday. Several works were sold.
At the end of the exhibition - about 5:00 pm we quickly took down everything and cleaned out the place as though we had never been there. Then that was it. All wrapped up.
The week long collage expedition is now over. It is about 12:30 at night here. I just got finished having dinner with everyone after the exhibition at Burnt Umber, a restaurant run by Ivana and Jaro Petrak, a lovely couple that I made friends with. Jaro even invited me to come to stay with them at their house which was very sweet. I have eaten there three or four times. Twice as our big dinner group and a twice for breakfast. Maybe again in the morning! If you are in the Hackney Wick area be sure to stop by for the great food and lovely atmosphere.
After dinner we all said our good byes to each other, hugged all our new friends and promise to stay in touch. I am pretty exhausted so I will take up the story tomorrow.
It was such a pleasure to meet you and spend time talking to you outside the studio. I wish we could have arrived sooner so we had more time to view the art, meet all the artists, but, alas, it was a blast! Looking forward to reading more of your posts and visiting the gallery on Colquitt in Houston that you told me about. Best to you - Lynn and Marcel
Another great Collage Expedition for the history books! Congratulations to everyone and thanks for sharing!
