COLLAGE POEM:
Dancing and Singing
Run directly into the light
dancing and singing.
Trying new things is inspiring
Timing is everything.
A very inconvenient habit
or any rule of that sort
always say the same thing
and it was impossible to guess
explaining the thing afterwards
and pretended not to see
thinking what to do
it was no laughing matter.
Take a minute to think about it
relatively little attention has been given
all sorts of things happened in a moment
fluttering about in all directions
There was not a moment to be lost.
Rather uncomfortable in the silence,
having long observed and lamented
I resolved to proceed in a new way
adjusting and correcting the calculations
with all its particulars
acknowledging some important exceptions;
reading the gaps and silences
to reveal hidden histories.
[I have] a rather strong fondness for archives
the feel of the documents
the bundles of papers tied with string
their occasional doodles and asides,
the many beautiful, unknown islands,
the prospect of elsewhere,
imaginings of aspirational futures.
