Collage Workshops at the Opening
Visual Poetry and Color Exhibition at Ferrari Gallery in Dallas
Hi all, Here is a great little reel that my son Zach made, https://fb.watch/tBtJYt_iL5/
Frankly I am a bit exhausted after a wonderful day yesterday of hanging out with so many great people who participated in the exhibition and workshops. I brought three plastic boxes of collage materials for participants to to use for collage making and it was unbelievable the amount of paper that it was once everyone started sorting through it, spreading it out on the tables and started collaging.
As folks finished their panels they hung them in the show and I think we ended up with 25-30 new works for the exhibition. I would like to thank all of the people who have participated in this exhibition and the 30+ people who came for the workshops and my son Zach who did a great job helping to document the event. I would also like to thank the Ferraris who put together a great event.
After the event about 10 of us went out for dinner and drinks at the Meddlesome Moth. I’ll be coming back to Dallas in a couple of weeks for the lecture event with Cheryl Mitchell, the collections specialist and art historian from UTA. I spent an afternoon with Cheryl on Friday at the UTA Fine Arts building who showed me the archives there and told me about the program and all the great projects she is working on with the students.
Then I will pack up the show a day or two after the lecture and bring everything back to Albuquerque and then sort out and inventory the new works that were contributed from the workshops.
Meanwhile, I’ll be heading back to the studio on Monday and I will write more then once I have had a little time to relax and reflect. It has been a busy two or three months!
Wonderful! Wish I lived nearby to participate.
Great reel!
OMG Cecil! No wonder you're 'a bit exhausted'! I'm exhausted just reading about yesterday and all of your activity! You are filled with unstoppable energy! How wonderful that you shared your passion and knowledge of collage with so many people!
