Carnophobia- Fear of Meat
from the manuscript: Fears, Phobias & Pharmaceuticals - April 28, 2017
I was digging around in my folders, organizing writings and found an abandoned and forgotten start of a book of collage poetry called Fears, Phobias & Pharmaceuticals
The idea is to use the list of phobias as search terms and then gather interesting bit of text from the results of the searches. Here is one from 2017 called Fear of Meat.
Carnophobia- Fear of Meat
April 28, 2017
Meat IS gross. Why do we eat it?
I have always had a volatile relationship with meat.
I haven't eaten meat for many years
When I see raw meat I kind of panic.
Its like I'm seeing a murder take place.
I freak out if any kind of meat touches me or my food
I don't want corpse on my food!
A friend of mine has a dog
my skinny pale white flat little ass
a walking peice of flesh.
that scared me when I was little
I can not think about the way the meat is prepared
a lot has to do with taste.
And gristle really freaks me out.
The shock of seeing something like that.
add in some hot flashes,
a few badly concealed gags
I'm going to throw up just thinking about it.
I don’t like the smell of bacon
I can smell the stuff the neighbors cook
which is annoying.
Walking past a butchers shop disgusts me
how can people work in those places and handle it?
Walking around with another creature’s blood all over them
I would find myself very nervous, very anxiety ridden.
Just too much for me.
I don’t want to get overly upset,
It's hard to even write about it.
