Today we went over to meet with Marlene Weisman in her studio which was fairly close to our studio. Marlene’s studio is in an artist studio building as is John’s studio that we are using. I was especially attracted to Marlene’s assemblages.
It is one thing to collect paper for collage but it is a completely different animal when you are collecting object for assemblage!
We then headed back to John’s studio. Both John Whitlock and James Gallagher met us at the studio and made a couple of collages with us and donated them to the Collage Museum for an upcoming extension in Dallas in June of the previously mentioned show Visual Poetry and Color originally conceived by Willie Marlow. We then later all went out for dinner and beers.
By the way, if you are a collage artist, you are welcome to contribute a work to the Archives for this upcoming show at Ferrari Gallery. Make a work on an 8x8 inch cradled wood panel that has to do with the theme Visual Poetry and Color and get it to me by June 15th, 2024. Message me for shipping address.
